In 2010 we were asked to restore the historic Bingara cafe signage to its former glory as part of the resoration of the cafe and its associated theatre. Many of the skills used in the creation of the original graphics are now lost or not in demand but we think they should be maintained and used wherever possible to ensure history is not forgotten...and besides not everyone wants a cookie cutter graphic. What we have here is a work of art, hand drawn, hand finished and not a computer program in sight. Silver and gold leaf was applied along with hand drawn typography and days of colouring in to match the original panels which were so damaged that we had to decipher some of the words. The project was carried out with major funding support by the NSW Government office of Environment and Heritage, and Gwydir Shire Council.
